White Bleeding Hearts

White Bleeding Hearts is the pure white-flowered form of the beloved classic bleeding heart, equally graceful and romantic in its ivory-white pendulous flowers that dangle from arching stems in spring like a string of delicate white lockets. Growing to 24 to 30 inches tall in spring, the elegant, ferny foliage and white blooms create a luminous, almost ethereal effect in the shade garden, particularly effective when planted among spring bulbs or ferns. Like all bleeding hearts, White Bleeding Hearts enters summer dormancy after flowering, disappearing gracefully by midsummer as the foliage yellows, so companion plants should be chosen to fill the space.
