'Scarlet Fire' Chinese Dogwood is a spectacular and relatively new Kousa Dogwood cultivar celebrated for its large, vivid pink to red bracts that are significantly more colorful than traditional white Kousa dogwoods. Blooming in late spring to early summer — after the native dogwood — the star-shaped bracts are a rich, warm pink with red undertones that create a dramatic and prolonged floral display. This upright, vase-shaped tree grows 15 to 20 feet tall and features attractive exfoliating bark, raspberry-like red fruits in fall, and rich fall foliage color. Scarlet Fire thrives in full sun to partial shade and well-drained, acidic soil, offering excellent disease resistance to anthracnose. Its bold color, disease resistance, and four-season ornamental value make it one of the most exciting dogwood introductions in recent years.
