Russian Arborvitae, also known as Siberian Carpet Cypress, is an exceptionally cold-hardy, low-growing evergreen shrub native to the rocky mountains of far eastern Russia. Growing just 12 to 18 inches tall with a wide, spreading habit reaching 10 feet or more, it forms a graceful, feathery mat of soft, scale-like foliage that is bright green in summer and takes on attractive warm bronze to copper tones in winter, adding interest during the coldest months. Russian Arborvitae is highly adaptable and will grow in full sun to full shade, making it one of the few evergreen ground covers that thrives in both sun and deep shade.
