'Rising Sun' Eastern Redbud is one of the most spectacular and sought-after redbud cultivars, celebrated for its extraordinary foliage that emerges in brilliant shades of orange-gold and apricot in spring before transitioning through yellow-green and ultimately settling into a heart-shaped blue-green leaf by midsummer. Before the leaves emerge, the bare branches are covered in the classic rosy-pink redbud blossoms that announce the arrival of spring. Growing 10 to 12 feet tall with a rounded, spreading crown, 'Rising Sun' is compact enough for smaller gardens while providing four full seasons of ornamental interest. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and well-drained, adaptable soil. Its extraordinary spring foliage emergence and beautiful form make it one of the most exciting ornamental trees of recent decades.
