Pussy Willow

Salix discolor, commonly known as the American Pussy Willow, is a deciduous shrub or small tree native to North America. This species is well-loved for its distinctive fuzzy catkins that appear in early spring, adding a touch of charm to the landscape. Thriving in moist to wet soils and enjoying full to partial sun exposure, the American Pussy Willow is often found along stream banks, wetlands, and other damp areas. The grayish-brown branches produce silvery catkins, covered in soft hairs, before the leaves emerge.
