Japanese Hydrangea Vine is a magnificent and underused deciduous climbing vine that produces spectacular, lacy flowerheads in mid to late summer, featuring small fertile flowers surrounded by showy white to blush-pink sterile bracts that resemble those of a hydrangea. This vigorous vine can reach 30 to 40 feet at maturity and clings to surfaces using aerial rootlets, making it ideal for covering walls, fences, trellises, and large tree trunks. In the 'Roseum' selection, the bracts take on a lovely soft pink blush, adding extra romance to the display. Japanese Hydrangea Vine thrives in partial to full shade and well-drained, moisture-retentive soil, making it one of the best flowering vines for shaded locations. Its attractive foliage, exceptional flowers, and exfoliating bark provide three seasons of ornamental interest.
