Golden Twig Dogwood is a striking deciduous shrub prized primarily for its vivid, golden-yellow winter stems that glow brilliantly against snow and dormant landscapes from late fall through early spring. The yellow-green stems are most vibrant on young growth, making an annual hard pruning in early spring highly recommended to continually produce the brightest, most colorful new stems each fall. Growing 5 to 7 feet tall with a similar spread, Golden Twig also offers white flowers in late spring, attractive white berries loved by birds in summer, and clean green foliage that turns yellow in fall. This adaptable shrub thrives in full sun to partial shade and tolerates wet soil conditions, making it excellent for rain gardens, pond edges, and naturalized areas where winter stem color is especially impactful.
