'Festiva Maxima' Peony is a timeless heirloom garden peony first introduced in 1851 and still considered one of the finest white peonies ever produced. The enormous, fully double flowers are a pristine white with distinctive flecks of crimson-red at the center of the innermost petals, creating a classic, elegant appearance. The blooms are intensely fragrant with a rich, sweet rose-like scent that fills the surrounding garden air in early to midsummer when the flowers open. 'Festiva Maxima' grows to 3 feet tall with strong, sturdy stems that hold the large blooms well, and the dark green foliage remains attractive throughout the growing season.
