'Christmas Jewel' Holly is a superior, upright broadleaf evergreen holly prized for its exceptional combination of very large, brilliant red berries, glossy dark green foliage, and outstanding cold hardiness. The abundant berries develop early in the season and are particularly large and long-lasting, persisting well into winter to provide striking seasonal color and important food for wintering birds. This upright holly grows 8 to 10 feet tall and 4 to 5 feet wide, making it excellent for tall narrow hedges, foundation plantings, and specimen use. 'Christmas Jewel' thrives in full sun to partial shade and well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Its superior berry production, attractive foliage, and exceptional winter hardiness (to zone 5) make it one of the finest hollies for northern landscapes.
